Plastic Fantasies 3: The Beginning
2025-2026 Fall
“The Beginning,” the third exhibition in the “Plastic Fantasies” series, interrogates the concept of creation through both mythological and technological lenses, bringing together humanity’s oldest narratives and the most contemporary creative tools of our time on a shared intellectual ground.
Drawing inspiration from Japanese, Turkish, and Greek creation myths, “Plastic Fantasies 3: The Beginning” approaches creation not as the act of a singular, supreme will, but as a collaborative production between the human designer and machine intelligence. The universe design of each myth is examined through elements such as light, water, sky, earth, and relational structures; in doing so, these ancient narratives are placed in direct dialogue with generative AI, the new creative agent of our era. Within this process, the mythic creative subject—one that brings existence out of nothing—gives way to an algorithmic logic of creation based on probability and capable of generating infinite variations. The intuitive and symbolic power of myth merges with the generative capacity of AI, giving rise to a new language of creation.
The designer toys presented in this exhibition are not direct representations of mythological figures. Rather, each is conceived as a speculative and interpretive design object, developed through AI-assisted visual and formal exploration processes. In this context, the designer moves away from the role of an absolute creator and instead assumes a position of selecting, filtering, and interpreting the possibilities offered by AI. Consequently, the act of creation is redefined as a plural and negotiable space between human intuition and machine intelligence.
We invite you to reconsider the idea of creation through contemporary design and AI in this exhibition.
